Description: Vernaccia di Cannara DOC is a very ancient sweet wine, produced from the grape Cornetta, a native red grape variety in very rare and tannic. After 3 months of drying on frames, locally called “camorcanne”, acidity and tannins typical of the variety are balanced by the soft sugars, in a extraordinary and slightly spicy blend of blackberry, blackcurrant and violet aromas.

Type of coltivation: spur cordon
Grape Yeild: 50 q.li /Ha
Harvest: mid october
Method of harvesting: by hand
Grape drying: the grapes are placed on frames to dry for 2-3 months at a constant temperature (15 °)
Wine Yield: 25% (about 25 litres of sweet wine for 100 kgs of grapes)
Fermentation: in vats for  20 days at controlled temperature
Aging: in stainless steel vats for  4 months
Percent Alcohol: 15.5%
Zuccheri residui: 13-16%

Tasting: Wine color rosso violaceo, dense, with rich aromas and flavors of red fruit, blackberries and violet, with strong tannins, perfectly balanced acidity and sweetness, leaves the mouth dry and clean. Aftertaste lingering and pleasantly fruity.

Tasting Temperature: can be drunk cold (8 °) or at room temperature (20 °)

Service Suggestions: traditionally accompanies the typical Umbrian Easter cheese bread with new charcuterie; great with cheese, pastries, panettone, the Easter Colomba, ice cream, nougat and desserts. Incredible combination with traditional Umbrian sweets, such as the Rocciata, the  Brustengolo, Ciaramicola, Torcolo of San Costanzo. Surprising with chocolate.
